When her companion tried to intervene, she was choked and pushed down the precipice. The younger woman, too, was thrown into the ravine following the attempted sexual assault.

Witnesses found the two victims lying 50 meters below, side by side. A mountain rescue team from Füssen was summoned, who airlifted the victims to a nearby medical facility.

 Rapid Arrest and Investigation

The attacker fled post the gruesome attack near Neuschwanstein Castle, but a substantial police operation soon led to his capture.

A witness recorded footage showed a casually dressed man being led away in handcuffs by the police.

An ongoing investigation led by Kempten’s criminal investigative police, aided by local alpine task force experts, has been launched to explore the charges of murder, attempted murder, and sexual assault.

After appearing before a judge in Kempten, the alleged attacker is now held in custody.

Meanwhile, both Neuschwanstein Castle and the Marienbrücke are operating as usual, and authorities are encouraging any potential witnesses to step forward to aid in the investigation.
