After the game, Griner celebrated on the court with her teammates, sharing hugs with Lisa Leslie and others who had come to cheer on the American team at Bercy Arena. French President Emmanuel Macron among the spectators.
As Griner reflected on the victory, she expressed her gratitude for the entire Olympic experience. “The gold (medal game) is just the icing on the cake, being in the Olympics…as well,” she said.
