In an unsettling development for the LGBTQ+ community, the China Netcasting Services Association (CNSA) has declared a new prohibition on gay content across the internet.

Targeting “Abnormal Sexual Behaviour”

The CNSA is categorizing this as a ban on “abnormal sexual behaviour.” Notably, the prohibition extends to videos that include elements of “terrorism, superstition, and homosexuality.” As part of the ban, streaming services have been instructed to remove such content.

The implementation of this ban also entails the use of professional censors to effectively block any access to content that falls within the banned categories.

The publication criticized the regulations as spreading false information, adding that they exacerbate the prejudice and discrimination already faced by the Chinese LGBT community.
