As a result of this breach of confidentiality, Mesereau and Appelbaum have been ordered to pay $950 each in sanctions.

The judge claimed their actions raise concerns about the integrity of the legal process and the protection of victims’ rights.

Masterson to be sentenced

Danny Masterson, a longtime member of the Church of Scientology, was convicted of raping three women between 2001 and 2003.

Masterson’s association with the Church of Scientology has been a significant aspect of the trial, with the leaked emails revealing further entanglement between the actor, his defense team, and the church.

Masterson’s guilty verdict came after a retrial, following a hung jury in 2020. He now faces a potential sentence of 30 years to life in prison.

Masterson will be sentenced in August.
