While the Minnesota congressman believes Biden was the right pick to challenge Trump nearly four years ago, he now thinks Biden may be the only Democrat who could lose to Trump in 2024.

What would it take for Phillips to bow out?

Despite his criticisms of the president, Phillips made it clear he will not run as a third-party candidate. In fact, the Democratic lawmaker told CNN that if he strikes out during Super Tuesday, he’d be willing to bow out of the race.

Furthermore, Phillips stressed that he’ll view his campaign as a success even if it just results in Biden having a more active presence on the campaign trail and engaging in debates.

Phillips also believes if he ends up winning the nomination and defeating Biden in the primary, this too would constitute a victory. For the time being, Americans can expect Phillips to remain in the 2024 presidential race and keep making his case to Democratic voters.
