On Sunday, Sen. Bernie Sanders expressed his “absolute confidence” in Democrats’ ability to pass Biden’s $1.9 trillion spending package without Republicans’ support. While speaking with ABC’s ‘This Week’, the left-wing senator stated that America faces “unprecedented” issues and therefore plans to “support” the current president.

Sanders has previously stated that Democrats in Washington don’t have the luxury of waiting forever for Republicans’ approval on policies. Hence, the senator maintains that Democrats in Washington will move to pass the 46th president’s spending package; this will happen in spite of Republicans’ concerns about spending and the lack of targeted direction for financial assistance.

Par for the course in politics

Democrats in Congress are doing precisely what they said they’d do if they won the majority. During the Georgia runoffs, Sen. Chuck Schumer professed that Democrats would “change America” and this is exactly what they’re working towards.

Sanders also referenced the Georgia races, noting that the entire Democrat Party backed Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock. Hence, with the majority, Democrats plan to pass the policies that they see fit, regardless of GOP objections or Biden’s soundbites about bipartisanship.
