Enforcement Results Under Current Administration

DHS reported significant enforcement achievements in a July 20 statement, claiming greater progress in six months under the Trump administration than most administrations accomplish during complete terms. More than 300,000 illegal immigrants have been arrested since the administration’s inauguration, with 70 percent of ICE arrests involving individuals with criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.

The OBBB funding will enable ICE to “arrest and remove even more criminal aliens,” according to DHS officials, representing a substantial expansion of current enforcement capabilities.

National Security Implications

Secretary Noem characterized the current moment as defining for American history, stating, “This is a defining moment in our nation’s history. Your skills, your experience, and your courage have never been more essential. Together, we must defend the homeland.”
