Yesterday, Nancy Pelosi made some very public statements about President Trump's alleged engagement in a "cover-up" and obstruction of justice. These statements occurred after a meeting between the president and Democrat leaders went awry.

Earlier this morning, Donald Trump Jr., the president's eldest son, appeared on Fox & Friends to provide his own rebuttal to Pelosi's accusations.

During his time on air, Don Jr. stated that Democrats are deadset against Trump having any successes while in office.

"They don't want him to rack up any wins. You can't deal with someone like that. You can't say we're gonna deal with infrastructure, but meanwhile, we're impeaching you while that is going on."

Investigations and Talks of Impeachment

Talks of impeaching the president resurfaced following the conclusion of Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. During the probe, Democrats maintained that Trump colluded with the Russian government in order to win the 2016 presidential election; yet Mueller's ultimate findings did not support these assertions.

This time the narrative and proposed justifications for investigations and impeachment are different. Democrats are now alleging that President Trump obstructed justice during the time in which the Mueller probe remained underway. Again, this is something which Mueller could neither confirm or deny.

Therefore, Congressional Democrats believe this is a matter which they should investigate themselves. In the meantime, Democrats are still pushing to impeach the president. Yesterday, after the failed meeting, Pelosi stated that Democrats believe Trump has obstructed justice, an act which Pelosi claims "could be an impeachable offense."

The Response from President Trump

Donald Trump Jr. is not the only member of the Trump family to have words for Pelosi following yesterday's events. Yesterday and earlier this morning, the president of the United States took to Twitter and blasted the Democrats in a series of scathing tweets.

Like President Trump, members of his base view the Democrats' investigations and moves to impeach as unwarranted. Nevertheless, Congressional Democrats continue to proceed with these moves, along with their attempts to gain access to the president's financial documents.
