Outlaw confirmed the discovery of two knives in Irizarry’s car but remained uncertain if Irizarry wielded them or if any prior warning was issued before the shooting.
Defense Speaks Out
Fortunato Perri Jr., attorney for Officer Dial, revealed that the specific charges Dial faces remain undisclosed. Despite the uproar surrounding the Eddie Irizarry shooting, Perri Jr. stated, “We intend to vigorously defend him against the charges… the facts will unmistakably show that Officer Mark Dial was legally justified in discharging his weapon while fearing for his life.”
Officer Dial, who had been placed on restricted duty post the shooting, might be terminated, according to Commissioner Outlaw, once his 30-day suspension concludes.
