Democrats in the Sunshine State must furthermore contend with Republicans having supermajorities in the Florida House and Senate. That’s in addition to Republicans now outnumbering Democratic voters by over 300,000.
Before DeSantis came into office, Florida Democrats enjoyed a significant voter registration advantage over Republicans.
Problems going ahead for the Florida Democratic Party
Despite the efforts from Florida Democrats to rebuild, the party will likely continue to struggle. This is because many voters in the Sunshine State continue to reject left-wing policies and ideologies.
In many ways, Florida is a solidly red state in the way that California is a solidly blue state. If Democrats in Florida continue to press forward with policies that most voters in the state aren’t amenable to, they’ll keep losing elections.
That’s the reality, regardless of who the party elects as their chair or chooses to run for various offices. From Florida’s governor’s race to its House and Senate elections, the people have very clearly chosen to elect and reelect Republicans.
