Fox’s 72% share of cable news primetime viewers dwarfed MSNBC’s 684,000 and CNN’s 464,000.
Additionally, Fox claimed the top 100 cable news telecasts of the week, a feat unparalleled by its competitors. In the advertiser-coveted 25-54 demographic, Fox averaged 236,000 total viewers during the day and 360,000 in primetime, outperforming both CNN and MSNBC for the 194th consecutive week among total viewers and the 185th straight week in the demo.
CNN and MSNBC’s Ratings Collapse
From November 11-17, CNN and MSNBC continued to struggle in the wake of the election. CNN lost 33% of its total viewers and 39% of its demo audience compared to its 2024 averages.
Primetime numbers were similarly grim, with a 36% decline in viewers. MSNBC shed half its primetime audience and saw several shows hit their lowest ratings ever, including “The Rachel Maddow Show.”
Fox’s programs consistently outperformed their counterparts at MSNBC and CNN. Every hour of the Fox News Channel programming outpaced MSNBC and CNN in both total viewers and the key demographic.
