The long-term goal of Uber is for people at transit platforms to be able to use the rideshare company’s app to purchase transportation via subway, bikes, buses, scooters, rideshare, etc. Uber executive Ivan Mihov stated that the company’s intention is to transform public transit into a “public-private partnership.”
Rideshare during the pandemic
Throughout the pandemic, rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft did take some hits. However, both companies remain active with people using their services around the world. Despite Uber and Lyft managing to stay in business, the companies have not gone completely unscathed.
Due to COVID-19, Uber wound up abandoning certain divisions that it previously projected would grow their company’s profits. However, if Uber succeeds in taking over public transportation, the rideshare company will grow exponentially.
Mihov maintains that Uber is confident about its “growth and opportunity” in the future.
