The day’s twists and turns culminated in the election of Rep. Johnson as the new nominee.

It’s worth noting that Tom Emmer became the third Republican nominee for the position who eventually withdrew from the race after failing to garner sufficient votes, following in the footsteps of Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Steve Scalise, also hailing from Louisiana.

Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with Emmer’s nomination on Truth Social, labeling him a “Globalist RINO” and urging against voting for him, stating that it would be a “tragic mistake.”
