Simon Monjack revealed in a 2011 interview with The Hollywood Reporter that Murphy often tried to avoid staying there. “She absolutely hated the Rising Glen house,” Monjack shared. “Every time we would drive up Sunset, Brit would say, ‘Please, can we stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel?’”
Murphy reportedly referred to the property as “unlucky.”
A Revamped Estate with a Dark Past
The home, originally built in the 1950s, has undergone extensive renovations since Murphy’s time there.
According to the current listing by David Parnes of Carolwood Estates, the house has been “reborn,” featuring redesigned exteriors, reimagined entryways, and refreshed interiors. Despite its modern upgrades, the mansion’s haunting history remains.
The property boasts six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and spans 9,400 square feet.
Its outdoor living spaces include lush gardens, a pool, and stunning views of Los Angeles. The home was briefly listed in the summer of 2024 for $19 million but the asking price has been reduced by one-million-dollar dollars.
Searching for New Owner of Haunted House
Over the years, the house has struggled to find a permanent owner, remaining a symbol of Hollywood’s darker side.
