The San Diego Comic-Con Convention, an annual event celebrates comic books and pop culture. In 2024, it became the unexpected focal point of a major operation spotlighting human trafficking at Comic-Con.

Fourteen people were arrested, and ten victims were rescued as authorities cracked down on human trafficking at Comic-Con. The annual event, which draws over 100,000 attendees to the San Diego Convention Center, concluded on Sunday with a high-profile police presence.

Human Trafficking at Comic-Con

The San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force (SDHTTF) executed a strategic three-day operation before the weekend’s main events. As part of this operation, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced in a news release that ten victims were rescued, including a 16-year-old girl.
