Mueller Brass Co. and Wieland Chase LLC initiated the probe in April 2023, alleging unfair trade practices by manufacturers in India, Israel, South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, and South Africa. Foreign producers, propelled by “aggressively discounted prices” and potential illegal government assistance, have allegedly jeopardized U.S. companies.
The Peril: U.S. Companies Under Siege
Accusing producers from six countries of dumping products, Mueller and Wieland singled out India, Israel, and South Korea for receiving illegal subsidies. Commerce’s preliminary decision in September confirmed subsidies for brass rods from these countries. In November, the agency unveiled likely dumping activity, with estimated margins soaring up to 77.14%.
Representatives for the domestic companies, including Mueller Brass Co. and Wieland Chase LLC, did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Thursday.
