Alicia Singham Goodwin’s family ties have raised red flags. Her mother, Shanti Singham, holds a leadership role at East China Normal University, a Chinese state-run institution, and has promoted Confucius Institutes, which U.S. officials have accused of spreading Chinese Communist Party propaganda.

Her father, Daniel Goodwin, served as legal counsel at Thoughtworks and has been investigated by House Republicans over connections to groups involved in anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles.

Goodwin herself has links to Code Pink, a leftist anti-war group co-founded by her uncle’s wife, Jodie Evans, who has also been scrutinized for ties to China.
