Joaquin Altenberg Rents Luxury Apartment at Avenue Grove While Dodging $9M+ Judgment

Joaquin Altenberg Living In Texas Luxury Apartments

Joaquin Altenberg recently rented a luxury apartment at Avenue Grove, a prestigious high-rise building in downtown Houston, TX. Despite facing a huge $9 million+ judgment against him in a recent lawsuit, Altenberg seems adamant about living the high life, even if it means skirting the law.

To make matters worse, it appears that Avenue Grove has intentionally marketed and reserved for specific applicants only.  According to sources, several African American applicants who were more financially qualified than Joaquin Altenberg for the apartment were denied access, despite having met all of the building's other criteria. While the USA Herald is continuing to gather evidence of discrimination, race likely played a role in this decision.

It's unlikely that the current residents of the luxury apartment complex are aware of Altenberg’s dubious past. In a past judgment, he was held liable for $5.5 million dollars in interest and over $1.7M in legal fees based on the finding of "egregious fraud and misrepresentation." This decision came after proceedings proved that Altenberg breached his fiduciary duty while managing a development fund for solar power projects. He also failed to provide evidence that his actions were fair.

The strain of Altenberg's legal woes likely led to the end of his marriage to his wife, Alison Altenberg, who faced legal troubles of her own. According to a lawsuit filed in Harris County, Texas, Alison Altenberg was sued for intentionally defrauding HOMF II Investment Corp. By way of background, HOMF II invested in a fund to finance renewable energy development projects.

These projects were to be selected by the Fund's managing member, Joaquin Altenberg. Instead of abiding by the purpose of the Fund, the lawsuit alleges that Alison Altenberg intentionally defrauded the Fund in part by accepting an "Office Manager" role that paid her a high 5-figure salary for duties that she ultimately never performed.

The lawsuit alleged that Mrs. Altenberg had no previous experience to qualify for the role of "Office Manager" of a company that had a singular goal to seek and assess solar energy investment opportunities. This fraud was allegedly perpetrated against HOMF II Investment Corp over the course of several months, during which time Mrs. Altenberg allegedly collected a high five figures in salary payments that she was not entitled to.

Alison eventually divorced Joaquin on June 3rd, 2022. According to Mrs. Altenberg, her request to the court was made "in the best interest of their children to protect them from actual and threatened mistreatment and/or abuse to protect their physical health and/or emotional development."   As such a restraining order was filed against Joaquin Altenberg.

According to Mrs. Joaquin's affidavit, she requested an emergency hearing to address the safety and welfare of the children. She also secured the services of Rachel Sedita, a licensed attorney and the law firm of Diggs & Sadler, to preserve and protect the children's rights.

Despite facing huge legal judgments against him, Joaquin Altenberg seems determined to live the high life and avoid responsibility for his actions. Despite having already been found liable for egregious fraud and misrepresentation, his recent rental of a luxury apartment at Avenue Grove in downtown Houston suggests that he is not concerned with following the law. USA Herald will continue to follow this story as it develops.
