With just over a week left before the Impeachment Trial, former President Donald J. Trump finds himself in a precarious situation.

Sources say, Trump’s legal team has been working to oppose impeachment. The foundation of the argument was impeachment of a private citizen was unconstitutional.

Because of the vote of 45 GOP members, this defense could have delivered a speedy decision declining impeachment. Former President Trump, however, wanted lawyers to pursue a defense based on mass election fraud.

The legal team, headed by Butch Bowers and Deborah Barbier, have parted ways with former President Trump after disagreeing over legal strategy. Sources involved say the this was a ‘mutual decision.’

“We have done much work, but have not made a final decision on our legal team, which will be made shortly,” tweeted Trump advisor Jason Miller in response to the reports.

“The Democrats’ efforts to impeach a president who has already left office is totally unconstitutional and so bad for our country. In fact, 45 Senators have already voted that it is unconstitutional. We have done much work, but have not made a final decision on our legal team, which will be made shortly,” Jason Miller, a spokesperson for Trump, tweeted.

Impeachment Trial Moving Forward

The House impeached Trump for a second time on Jan. 13 on a single article for “incitement of insurrection.”
