The families believe the residence could answer some outstanding questions. And they emphasized the need for diagrams, models, and technology in the trial.

Concerns were voiced about whether crucial details, including the route Kernodle took during her DoorDash order, the discovery of biological evidence, and the potential targeting of the home, could be adequately addressed if the house was demolished.

Prosecutor’s Response

Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson communicated to the University of Idaho that the state would not use the home for a jury view.

Citing Idaho case law, Thompson argued that the current condition of the premises differed significantly from the time of the homicides, making a ‘jury view’ unauthorized. Despite declining a jury view, the prosecutor acknowledged the university’s assistance in gathering measurements for illustrative exhibits.

The University of Idaho’s decision to demolish the murder house continues to stir controversy.  The families of the victims can only hope that the prosecutor has developed the exhibits that will prove that Kohbereger is the killer.
