As the interview progressed, Sununu faced questioning about Haley lagging behind Trump in Granite State polls and what his own plans are to change this. The New Hampshire governor responded by affirming he and Haley will move ahead with a “40-day ground game” to benefit her campaign.
Sununu also noted that America needs a president who can fully devote their energy to issues like inflation, the war in Israel, etc. It is not the New Hampshire governor’s view that Trump will be able to do this.
A different approach
During Haley and Sununu’s joint interview, they repeatedly faced questions about Trump’s candidacy and ways to appeal to the GOP base in ways meaningful enough to win.
Both Republicans stressed the importance of Americans not just pivoting away from Trump’s policy failures, but also his praise of dictators. Haley later stated she doesn’t believe it’s in the country’s best interests to have “two 80-year-olds” running in the general election next year.
In the weeks ahead, voters can look forward to seeing both Sununu and Haley on the campaign trails in New Hampshire. The state’s primary will take place on Tuesday, January 23.
