This is a start.
But North Korea announced similar bans in history only to change their mind later. Nothing that Kim did is too costly or irreversible. Also, they didn’t say anything about not launching missiles of another kind. This is a big concern for Japan because they host many of the U.S. military bases in the area.
The End Game
Trump’s end goal in these negotiations with North Korea is to achieve total denuclearization.
Rober Carlin, Siegfried Hecker, and Elliot Serbin are nuclear physicists. They’re also experts on North Korea’s nuclear program. They produced a plan for the Center for International Security and Cooperation at Stanford University.
They released a roadmap on Monday. It lays out three phases over ten years.
The first year starts with cap and freeze. After this, comes the rollback phase that’s supposed to last 2-5 years. And the last phase represents the complete setting of acceptable limits.
With this plan, North Korea would stop producing and slowly release their weapons.
Questions from the American People:
- Is President Trump ready to lift sanctions against North Korea?
- Will Kim Jong Un change his mind about descaling North Korea’s nuclear program?
- Does North Korea have secret nuclear facilities where they will continue producing weapons?
