Some folks have said it’s not uncommon for politicians to embellish their records to win over voters; however, Santos’ aforementioned lies about his life and experiences transcend embellishments or hyperbole.
Even amid the criminal probes and negative press that Santos is facing, he apparently still cannot keep from being dishonest.
During a conversation with Newsmax, Santos alleged that after Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema urged him to “hang in there.”
Santos claims Sinema showed herself to be “kind-hearted” with her words of encouragement. However, the office of the Independent congresswoman states the exchange mentioned by Santos never happened.
In fact, a spokesperson for Sinema directly referred to Santos’ claim as “a lie.”
America deserves better
The United States deserves a lawmaker who will live up to the values of integrity and transparency. Santos, time and time again, has proven that he’s not capable of doing this.
Ultimately, New Yorkers in the congressman’s district who voted him into office did so based on a series of lies. If Santos has any shame, he will step down from office and out of politics altogether.
