Traveling comes with many pros that people are embracing on a growing scale. From getting to connect with different cultures to exploring exotic cuisine, it’s worth spending quality time in places far away from home.

However, depending on your chosen destination, you’ll want to be aware of certain variations. Time zone differences, which side of the road drivers navigate, and more should all be researched and made note of before you board your flight.

Of equal importance is the native language spoken in the country you’ve decided to visit. For people who are not bilingual or multilingual, overcoming the language barrier can feel like an insurmountable feat. Thankfully, it doesn’t have to be.

Download the Google Translate app

If you’re not fluent in a country’s native language, having the Google Translate app will make a huge difference. With this tool, you can translate text by taking a picture (or screenshot) of it and running it through the app.

You can also type what you’re attempting to say in English and the app will automatically translate that text to the language of your choosing. Many locals in various countries are familiar with Google Translate and may even have the app on their own devices as well.

Try to learn a bit of the language before you go

Apps like Duolingo are exceptional tools for language learning. It might take years to fully master another language. However, you can quickly learn some of the basics before your next trip.
