Despite the support for Biden amongst this group, just 66% said they’d cast ballots in the November election. This marks a stark contrast from the 94% of Americans 65 years old and up who confirmed they plan to vote.
Just shy of five in ten young people also stated that neither Biden nor Trump has a firm grasp on the matters that are most prioritized by young individuals.
Both sides will have to work on their appeal to young people
Every four years, more Americans will become eligible to vote in our nation’s elections. This means Democrats and Republicans both need to keep reaching out to a growing demographic of voters.
So far, polling shows that Democrats are doing better than Republicans amongst younger people, especially young women. However, some Republicans and social conservatives are attempting to make inroads with young men who are slightly more likely than young women to vote red.
The November election will likely stand as a bellwether for which party is most likely to do well with voters under 30 in future political races.
