In a fatal accident near the Port of Miami, a 30-foot yacht collided with a Fisher Island Ferry, taking the life of one man and critically injuring another on Sunday morning.

This unfortunate incident at the port led to an extended closure of PortMiami, a typically bustling hub of activity, thereby disrupting the plans of thousands of cruise passengers and further escalating the complexities of an already perplexing situation.

The yacht slammed into the ferry near Dodge Island around 3 a.m., leading to a swift response from the ferry crew who rescued one of the boat's passengers, now in critical condition.

As the rescued individual was being transported to the hospital, he alerted paramedics to his missing friend.

In response, a Miami police dive team was summoned to the scene.

In an unfortunate turn of events, the missing man was later found deceased, painting a grim image of the Port of Miami accident.

This incident led to the closure of the port for a staggering 11 hours as the U.S. Coast Guard launched an investigation and coordinated the removal of the submerged yacht from the waterway.

This closure resulted in the significant delay of three cruise ships, carrying more than 16,000 passengers.

These passengers, some of whom had planned to journey to destinations such as the Dominican Republic, were stranded out at sea.

Nick Pirozzi, one of the stranded passengers, described the situation on his ship as a "madhouse", with instances of fistfights breaking out among frustrated passengers.

Miami airport, responding to the situation, assured passengers that all rebooking fees would be waived.
