The accused are a part of a hip-hop collective that Lil Durk owns called “Only the Family.” It’s alleged that the murder was in connection to another murder of a member of this collective in 2020. The murder-for-hire is said to be revenge. This fallen member was also high-ranking in the group, explaining why they felt action was needed in the case of their murder.
The member was never named but was given the initials D.B. by prosecutors. It was reported that D.B. was killed by an associate of someone referred to as T.B. The same day that member was murdered, so was gang-affiliated rapped King Von, whose real name is Dayvon Bennet. Prosecutors allege that the main target of the murder was rapper Quando Rondo, real name Tyquian Terrel Bowman.
