Schumer Celebrates As Democrats Take Complete Control

The power sharing agreement, which was needed because of the Senate tie, was at an impasse for days because Sen. Schumer would not assure Senate Minority Leader and Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell that Democrats would not end the filibuster.

But Sen. McConnell removed that request when he was assured by moderate Democrat Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona that they had no plans to end the filibuster.

That is extremely good news for Republicans as it will give them the opportunity to block major changes like giving Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico statehood and automatic voter registration.
