The Daniel Anderl Judicial Security and Privacy Act—passed in the wake of the 2020 tragedy—was meant to protect judges by scrubbing their personal info from public databases. Durbin now questions whether delays or violations of that law may have helped the perpetrators access judges’ addresses.
“This is about safeguarding a core pillar of our democracy,” Durbin concluded. “The rule of law depends on an independent, unthreatened judiciary. We cannot allow intimidation to go unchallenged.”
