In the Hebrew calendar, the Wolf Moon falls in the middle of the month Shevat, aligning with Tu BiShvat, a celebration known as “Rosh HaShanah La’Ilanot” or “New Year of the Trees.”

This day is observed as an ecological awareness event in contemporary Israel, with the planting of trees symbolizing renewal and environmental consciousness.

As the Wolf Moon graces the sky, it aligns with the twelfth month of the Chinese year of the Rabbit and Rajab, the seventh month in the Islamic calendar, where warfare and fighting are prohibited.

Celestial Rhythm and Winter Light

With winter prevailing, the daily periods of sunlight are gradually lengthening. On the day of the full Moon, Thursday, January 25, 2024, morning twilight will commence at 6:24 AM EST, sunrise at 7:27 AM, and sunset at 5:00 PM. This celestial event requires no special equipment for viewing, though binoculars or a telescope can enhance the experience.

While bidding goodbye to the Wolf Moon, sky watchers can anticipate the next lunar spectacle, the “Snow Moon” scheduled to illuminate the night sky on February 24.
