The Taylor Swift subpoena controversy has erupted amid a high-profile legal battle involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. This prompted the pop superstar’s team to issue a rare and pointed public statement.

The Grammy winner was reportedly subpoenaed in connection to the film It Ends with Us, a movie adaptation at the center of lawsuits and counter-lawsuits between Lively and Baldoni.

Response to Taylor Swift Subpoena

Taylor Swift’s representative strongly denied the relevance of her involvement in the ongoing legal dispute, clarifying that Swift’s only connection to the film was the use of her song “My Tears Ricochet” in the movie's soundtrack.

“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history,” the statement reads.

“The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet,’” it continues. “Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”

The Lawsuit: Harassment and PR Smear Allegations

The legal drama began following the August 2024 release of It Ends with Us, when Blake Lively filed a sexual harassment complaint against director and co-star Justin Baldoni.

The complaint, filed on December 20, 2024, accused Baldoni of crossing professional boundaries during the filming of intimate scenes and harassing her on set.

Lively further alleged in a lawsuit filed weeks later that Baldoni, his production company Wayfarer Studios, publicist Jennifer Abel, crisis publicist Melissa Nathan, and others orchestrated a smear campaign against her.

NBC News obtained court documents supporting her claims. Baldoni has denied the allegations and, in January 2025, filed a countersuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her PR firm for defamation and contractual violations.

Swift’s Name Dragged into the Fray

Taylor Swift’s name surfaced after Baldoni, and his team created a website dedicated to the lawsuit. It features legal documents and alleged communications from people involved in the film’s production.

One such email claimed that Lively allegedly said she would “change her mind” about calling Swift to use “My Tears Ricochet” for the trailer if her demands were not met.

In February, Lively amended her complaint, asserting she was not the only one who had raised concerns about on-set misconduct. Baldoni’s legal team has not publicly responded to that amendment.

Trial Date Approaches

The case is heading toward trial, scheduled for March 2026. As the legal battle intensifies, the inclusion of high-profile names like Taylor Swift and Ryan Reynolds has added media pressure and public scrutiny.
