Their representative in Congress, Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), welcomed the news in a statement, describing the past two weeks as horrifying and heartbreaking while emphasizing the message of hope that the release of the hostages brings.

In the ongoing conflict, the State Department has reported that 32 Americans have lost their lives.

 President Biden has sought approval from Congress for a $106 billion package, which includes emergency aid to Israel, as well as funding for Ukraine and the southern U.S. border. However, the fate of this aid remains uncertain as the House speakership stalemate continues.
