Danny Serafini, 49, who once graced the diamond for six Major League Baseball teams, finds himself entangled in a gruesome murder case. The ex-MLB pitcher was arrested in the Reno area. His alleged accomplice Samantha Scott, 33, was arrested in Las Vegas.
The two suspects were taken into custody after a two-year investigation by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that both Serafini and Scott would be extradited to California to face charges related to the crime.
The murder took place at a home in an unincorporated community in California off the shore of Lake Tahoe. Robert Spohr, 70, was shot to death and his wife, Wendy Wood, 68, was left in critical condition.
