Re-litigating the past

As time passes, some Republicans are becoming more outspoken about their views that it’s time to put aside 2020.

Kevin McCarthy, the House Minority Leader, expressed this view weeks ago. McCarthy explained that it is not conducive for Republicans to fixate on “re-litigating the past”; instead, the top House Republican believes that members of his party need to focus on the midterm races in 2022 and the presidential election in 2024.

Some Republicans have also theorized that hangups over the 2020 presidential election contributed to former Republican Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue losing the Georgia runoffs. These two runoffs went to Sens. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, thus handing Democrats control of the United States Senate.
