According to an Axios survey, an overwhelming amount of Democrats harbor very negative views about Republicans.

An Overview of the Survey’s Findings

Republicans and Democrats have remained at odds with one another for decades. However, recent findings affirm just how deeply the discord runs. 61% of Democrats perceive members of the GOP as bigoted, racist, and/or sexist; conversely, only 31% of Republicans believe the same about Democrats.

21% of Democrats furthermore see Republicans as evil, while 44% view GOP members as spiteful. Moreover, a total of 54% of surveyed Democrats admitted to believing that Republican individuals are ignorant.

However, Republicans seem to view Democrats in a similar manner, with slight marginal variations. For instance, Axios showed that 23% of Republicans view Democrats as evil, while 54% of the polled GOP members believe that Democrats are spiteful. Finally, 49% of Republicans see Democrats as ignorant.

Approximately 33% of Republicans and Democrats in the poll admitted that disappointment would follow if a relative married someone with contrasting partisan views. Moreover, less than 5% of Republicans and Democrats view one another as thoughtful, fair, or kind.

Republicans and Democrats in America

As the two major political party members in the United States, Republicans and Democrats are generally expected to disagree with one another. Individuals on both sides of the aisle usually maintain wildly different views on policy matters. This includes healthcare, employment, welfare, taxation, immigration, regulations, abortion, and more. It is not uncommon for Republicans and Democrats to launch character assassinations against their political and ideological adversaries.
