During the second annual "Salute to America" event this Saturday, Trump took advantage of the opportunity to slam the "radical left" who he says "falsely and consistently label their opponents as racist and condemn patriotic citizens."

The event was held on the South Lawn of the White House and was livestreamed by news organizations as well as whitehouse.gov.

His speech was meant to commemorate the military and he remarked on a shared heritage, saying that we are "one America" regardless of race, creed, or color. Much of his speech was spent scolding the media for slandering him.

He also disparaged protesters and those who want to pull down monuments of Confederate generals, saying that his administration would protect those monuments.

Trump took the opportunity to elaborate on plans for the creation of a National Garden of American Heroes, which would be an outdoor park of statues. He said during his remarks that his administration had already selected 30 men and women, including Susan B. Anthony, Booker T. Washington, and George Washington for the garden.

Nearly 300,000 masks were made available to visitors by the Department of the Interior and social distancing and handwashing was encouraged. Many attendees decided not to wear face coverings and the President spoke to a largely mask-less crowd.

Despite much of the rest of the U.S. seeing growing restrictions put in place, the "Salute to America" event boasted a fireworks display of more than 10,000 fireworks, military flyovers, and public access to the National Mall for viewing.
