By and large, many “fast” paths to weight loss have been met with reasonable degrees of skepticism from the public. Just earlier this month, a new poll from Pew Research Center underscored this. As it turns out, most Americans don’t have much faith in weight loss drugs putting a real dent in the country’s obesity rates.
Outside of pharmaceuticals, there are multiple paths that people can employ to lose weight and improve their health. Getting a good night’s rest, regularly consuming a healthy diet, and remaining physically active rank high on the list. Of course, these take more time than getting weekly injections.
One of the many health risks associated with obesity is type 2 diabetes. Although a new study from the JAMA medical journal reveals that weight loss surgery comes with unique benefits for people with this condition.
Long term advantages
Type 2 diabetes emerges when the body’s blood sugar spikes as a result of insulin not being appropriately used. In turn, a person with this condition will begin to experience symptoms such as frequent urination, along with increased levels of hunger and thirst.
