Just 4 months after the conservatorship of superstar Britney Spears conservatorship ended, Amanda Bynes’ conservatorship also ended. The success of the Free Britney movement has put a spotlight on the practice of conservatorships. But it seems that the conservatorship in Amanda’s case was much less abusive.

Former child star and teen actress Amanda Bynes' conservatorship was officially terminated on Tuesday. The judge in a Ventura County court approved her “capacity declaration” and petition for termination filed in February.

"The court determines that the conservatorship is no longer required and that grounds for the establishment of a conservatorship of the person no longer exist," Superior Court Judge Robert Lund gave the tentative ruling Monday and finalized it Tuesday. "The court intends to grant the petition for termination and order the conservatorship of the person of Amanda Bynes be terminated."

In 2012, the child star got 2 driving under the influence charges. And began to have some very public run-ins with police.

In July 2013, Bynes was hospitalized on a 5150 psychiatric hold. Then a judge granted Bynes' mother, Lynn, conservatorship of her daughter in 2013. 

The ruling ends the 9-year legal arrangement. And Bynes, 35, now has full control of her medical, financial, and personal decisions. 

David A. Esquibias, Bynes' attorney said in an interview that. "Ms. Bynes has done very well in a very short period of time that she's been [living at the structured community for women.] Now she's able to live on her own independently and free of the conservatorship. Besides normalcy as a person and a student, I know that she is looking forward to what her next step is going to be."

"We're all excited and we're all anxiously looking forward to Amanda living a life as a private and normal citizen. Ms. Bynes' parents have both been very supportive throughout the entire conservatorship and have helped her work towards a positive transition into the real world, which was the goal from the beginning of the legal arrangement,"  Esquibias added.

On Valentine’s Day 2020, Bynes announced her engagement to Paul Michael. According to Byne’s new Instagram post on March 9, 2022, the engaged couple is still together.
