Angela Chao

Angela Chao, born in New York in 1973 was the youngest daughter of Dr. James S.C. Chao, founder of Foremost Group.

Graduating from Harvard University with distinction, she not only earned her undergraduate degree but also pursued an MBA, laying the groundwork for a remarkable career.

She was married to Jim Breyer, the venture capitalist founder of Breyer Capital. Breyer is an American venture capitalist. He Breyer is also a minority owner of the Boston Celtics, according to Breyer Capital's website.

Chao was the sister of Elaine Chao, who is married to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Elaine Chao served as labor secretary under former President George W. Bush and transportation secretary under former President Donald Trump.

 Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Angela's influence extended to numerous board positions. This included the American Bureau of Shipping Council, the Bank of China, and the Metropolitan Opera.

Her involvement in philanthropic endeavors, notably as a founding advisory council co-chair of The Asian American Foundation, underscored her commitment to fostering positive change and bridging cultural divides.

Investigation of her Death

Situated approximately 30 miles west of Austin, Blanco County serves as the backdrop for this tragedy. Her death took place in what is known locally as “Hill Country” a largely rural area best known for its serene beauty. 

The intensity of the ongoing investigation is sending shockwaves through the local community.

Blanco County authorities issued a short statement about her death. Her body was found still in her car in a private lake.

 County Emergency attempted a water rescue operation on the private ranch. Despite emergency measures, Angela was pronounced dead at the scene.

While initial reports suggest the possibility of drowning after her car entered the water, Blanco County authorities have not officially confirmed the cause of death.

Describing the incident as an "unfortunate accident," investigators are pursuing leads to get all the details.
