In a bit of foreshadowing, news recently broke that Margot Robbie, the lead actress portraying “Stereotypical Barbie,” predicted, after reading the film’s script, that it could make $1 billion.
Despite Robbie initially saying she was “overselling” at the time, it turns out her prediction was very much correct.
Barbie 2?
With the major international success of Barbie, questions have naturally come up regarding the possibility of a sequel. On social media, fans of the movie continue to share their interest in seeing another film that picks up where the first one left off.
So far, there is no contract in place for either Gerwig or Robbie to return for Barbie 2. Though, this could very much change later down the line, given the film’s success.
In the meantime, theaters hosting Barbie showings continue to sell out. Many moviegoers are also dressing up in pink and sharing photos of themselves at the movies on their social media accounts.
The weeks and months ahead will likely reveal more information about whether the world can look forward to a return of Margot Robbie’s iconic Barbie.
