Vice President-elect Kamala Harris praised Levine as “a remarkable public servant with the knowledge and experience” to help contain the coronavirus pandemic and “protect and improve the health and well-being of the American people.”
Meanwhile, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf congratulated Dr. Levine on her appointment. He described her as a”wise, calm, and a dedicated partner during the pandemic.”
In a tweet, Gov. Wolf wrote, “Dr. Levine has been a wise, calm, and dedicated partner during this pandemic and I couldn’t be prouder of the tireless work she’s done to serve Pennsylvanians. She will be missed, but I know she will be a tremendous leader at @HHSGov.”
With the appointment of Dr. Levine, Biden sends a strong message that his administration will repeal President Donald Trump’s policies that are considered discriminatory to the LGBTQ+ community.
