One factor that’s really hurting Biden is the economy. Merely 36% of the country supports his efforts to revive the economy in the aftermath of COVID-19.
Likewise, the president carries only 30% support regarding his response to the war between Israel and Hamas. This is somewhat of a catch-22 for Biden; while many Democrats think he’s doing too much to help the Jewish nation, there are considerable Republicans who feel that Biden hasn’t been supportive enough of Israel.
Immigration is another huge issue that the president must face as he seeks reelection. So far, only 28% favor his management of the growing amounts of migrants arriving at the southern border.
As of August 2021, the current president hasn’t managed to garner an approval rating that tops 44%.
What does this mean for November?
Some Democrats believe if Biden can’t increase his approval ratings, then they’ll need a new nominee to prevent Trump from getting back in the White House.
However, others think the former president is so unpopular that when push comes to shove, Americans will vote for Biden once faced with the alternative of another Trump presidency.
