Inflation is a crippling force in the lives of so many people throughout the nation.

It's causing Americans to have to cut back on certain expenditures, including essentials like groceries and transportation. People are also having to reconsider their travel plans or seek out extra work.

As all this plays out, there's not much help from the White House. Despite being the architect of this inflation crisis, Democrats in the federal government are aiming to make the problem even worse by working to get another COVID spending bill passed.

Things aren't looking good for much of the middle-class and the working-class. Nevertheless, Bloomberg News has decided to chime in with some recommendations for Americans trying to weather the storm.

Needless to say, the person who greenlit the publication of these recommendations is likely now regretting it.

Bloomberg's message to struggling Americans

Against the backdrop of inflation, Bloomberg News advised people earning below $300K to make some lifestyle changes.

These lifestyle changes entail replacing meat with lentils, buying products in meager amounts, reconsidering pet ownership, along with taking the bus instead of driving.

To top it all off, Bloomberg wryly told the American public that "nobody" claimed inflation would be "fun."

This went viral over the weekend with Americans flabbergasted and taken aback by advice widely condemned as tone-deaf.

A deep dive into the backlash

Bloomberg News clearly didn't see anything wrong with telling people to make the aforementioned modifications; yet, many Americans took offense to it.

Some people compared these recommendations to satire pieces from the Babylon Bee. Then, other Americans claimed that Bloomberg was not only out of touch, but also making a mockery of people being hit hard by inflation.

Truthfully, telling people to take buses, stop eating meat, etc., couldn't have come at a worse time. It's eerily similar to rhetoric from the White House.

The Biden administration has been stating that people who are not pleased with high gas prices (also a consequence of inflation) should consider purchasing electric vehicles to drive.

Meanwhile, Americans have pushed back against this advice. If people are already struggling to afford gas and other necessities, they certainly don't have tens of thousands of dollars to spend on electric vehicles.

Unfortunately, if Democrats manage to pass the current COVID spending bill they're working on, inflation will get even more out of control.
