In the ‘General Allegations’ portion of the lawsuit, Michigan United for Liberty shows that the numbers of COVID-19 cases in Michigan don’t warrant Whitmer’s Executive Order. For instance, the suit maintains that only 0.3% of Michigan’s population is confirmed as coronavirus positive, as of April 16, 2020.
A key excerpt of Michigan United for Liberty’s lawsuit also reads as follows:
“In the days leading up to the date of this complaint, Defendant has publicly stated that infection rates have either peaked or plateaued based on her available evidence. Unclear is what her evidence actually is: Defendant has purported to unilaterally limit to the point of effectively suspending governmental transparency laws.”

Michigan Protests Against Gov. Whitmer
The latest lawsuit against Michigan Gov. Whitmer comes on the heels of protests. Rather than paying attention to the voices of Michiganders, Whitmer chose to criticize the protesters last week. Moreover, the governor even boldly suggested extending her current stay home order past May 1.
