Canada declined to mention any specific state(s) amid this travel advisory. However, Global Affairs Canada did publicly express at least some of what its nation views as problematic.
The matters of contention include certain restrictions on drag shows, along with limitations on some transgender individuals participating in particular sports or receiving certain medical care.
The latter point appears to be a reference to different states which have determined that underage children should not be able to make healthcare decisions that come with permanent impacts on their bodies and their fertility.
This would include choices surrounding the use of puberty blockers, mastectomies, and other common treatments for transgender individuals.
Backlash against the new travel advisory
Word has quickly spread about the information Canada’s government is sharing with its citizens. Though here in the United States, many folks pushed back against the narrative that America remains inherently hostile towards LGBTQ individuals.
