A closer look at the latest data on suicide in America
CDC data reveals that roughly 49,500 individuals took their own lives last year. This is also documented as the highest number yet, hence indicating real societal problems that requiring addressing.
Some officials have attributed the massive uptick in suicides to mental health challenges like depression and a lack of readily available resources to assist struggling individuals.
A further breakdown reveals older people between the ages of 45 and 64 had a 7% rise in suicide. At the same time, folks 65 or above observed an 8% jump in their own suicide rates.
