CNN reports the massive chaos which occurred on Monday, March 5, 2018.

An Overview of the Protests

March 5, 2018, marked the official date for DACA to come to an end. However, a Supreme Court ruling extended the DACA era through the fall of this year. Despite the aforementioned ruling, many illegal immigrants still remain unhappy and moreover took to the streets to express their displeasure.

DACA recipients employed arguably extensive means to express their anger. Not only did they chant "Undocumented! Unafraid!" but illegal immigrants also halted the flow of traffic by laying down in the middle of the street.

The foregoing acts engendered many arrests. Capitol Police officers took 87 agitators into custody. They then faced charges of resisting arrest, obstructing, crowding, and incommoding. Other protestors were arrested after attempting to force their way into the office of Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.

The Controversy Surrounding DACA

Virtually everyone has differing viewpoints on DACA. Some people are in favor of the program while others are strongly against it. While DACA supporters laud the program as much needed protection for Dreamers, critics have other ideas. Many Americans who oppose DACA note that Americans and legal immigrants have dreams, as well.

Over the past few months, Republicans and Democrats have remained at odds over the fate of DACA and Dreamers. The gridlock even engendered two government shutdowns this year.

Earlier today, President Trump tweeted out criticism of the Democrats for being "nowhere to be found" regarding DACA:

How Do Americans Feel About DACA Protests?

The latest protests have raised many eyebrows. Some people have stated that Monday marked the beginning of the end for illegal immigrants, while other Americans had different ideas. Nevertheless, a resolution of DACA still remains unfounded.

Readers of USA Today furthermore chimed in with their thoughts and opinions regarding DACA and illegal immigrants:

"How do other countries handle illegal immigrants?"

"I wish Democrats were so concerned about regular Americans, as they are about sexual minorities, drug addicts and illegals."

"They’re illegal aliens they should be nervous."

"Those who support illegal aliens, refugees, DREAMers, etc. should pay for their housing & food out of their own pockets."
