Growing Concern Over Accidental Shootings by Children

This tragic event has brought to light the recurring issue of accidental shootings by children in the U.S., which has been a matter of ongoing concern.

It is a stark reminder that although bursts of high-profile shootings often take the limelight, perplexingly, these smaller, accidental incidents continue to occur with alarming frequency.

In a sobering analogy to a leaky faucet that won’t stop dripping, since the beginning of this year, there have been at least 221 unintentional shootings by children in the U.S. These incidents have resulted in 78 deaths and 151 injuries, according to the gun violence prevention organization, Everytown for Gun Safety.
