Drinking coffee comes with numerous health benefits. At the top of the list are lower odds of contracting Parkinson's disease, type 2 diabetes, and other debilitating medical problems.

Coffee, by its very nature, is a stimulant that boosts activity in both the nervous system and the brain. The drink likewise fuels adrenaline and cortisol; in moderation, coffee consumption has even been shown to strengthen focus and refresh the body.

While many coffee drinkers often want to wake up in the mornings or endure late nights, a new study from the International Journal of Cancer shines a light on the recently discovered advantages of this beverage.

How people with bowel cancer can benefit from drinking coffee

Receiving a diagnosis of bowel cancer is understandably upsetting, both mentally and physically. People who struggle with this disease often face distressing symptoms, like bloody stool, rectal/anal discomfort, and abdominal pain.

Fortunately, drinking two to four coffee cups on a daily basis can reduce the likelihood of running into bowel cancer more than once. Findings from the International Journal of Cancer determined that higher coffee consumption tracks with a lower possibility of bowel cancer recurrence in the future.

This news comes amid a Netherlands study focusing on 1,719 individuals who had bowel cancer diagnoses. Officials discovered that people who drank five cups of coffee each day saw a 32% reduced chance of having future run-ins with bowel cancer. Patients who ingested four or more cups of coffee, on the other hand, encountered a higher likelihood of recurrence.

Coffee can help individuals facing other forms of cancer

While bowel cancer patients can benefit from regular caffeine intake, so can individuals battling additional types of cancer. To date, medical data shows that coffee stands as an excellent defense against the following forms of cancer:

• Liver
• Larynx
• Mouth
• Womb
• Skin
• Pharynx

Many of coffee's health advantages come from its reduction of inflammation and strong presence of antioxidants, which helps protect body cells.

Despite all the documented upsides of drinking coffee, medical researchers have expressed an interest in further studying this beverage and further benefits that potentially have yet to be discovered.
