Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire, translated from French as European Organization for Nuclear Research, also known as CERN, is the world’s largest particle physics laboratory. The scientists there insist it is not the portal to Hell.

CERN operates the LHC or Large Hadron Collider which is the world’s biggest and most powerful particle accelerator. And on July 5th there was a restart of the LHC.

It studies high-energy collisions with stable beams.  The intensity of the beams before delivering collisions to the LHC experiments are delivered at the highest known energy levels of 13.6 trillion electron volts (13.6 TeV).

It has been off since 2018. The institute spent more than three years on maintenance and upgrades to the LHC.

The time period when the LHC was off is known as the “Long Shutdown 2” (LS2). Scientists and physicists have been working, around-the-clock, to recommission the machine. And to safely ramp up the energy again.
